Therapy for Trauma

What happened to you doesn't have to keep happening inside of you.

Trauma can change the way you experience yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Sometimes it comes from a single experience. Other times, it's the accumulation of things you learned to survive for a long time.

At Psychobabble Therapy, we help you understand what's happening beneath the surface, build a greater sense of safety, and begin moving through life without the past constantly tagging along.

You don't have to tell your whole story before you're ready.

Sometimes talking about it isn’t enough.

Trauma doesn't always live neatly in a story you can talk your way through. It can show up in your relationships, your reactions, your body, your beliefs about yourself, or that feeling that you're constantly bracing for something to happen.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting are approaches designed to help the brain process experiences differently—without requiring you to spend every session retelling every detail.

EMDR

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation while working with distressing memories, thoughts, emotions, and sensations to support the brain's natural processing of difficult experiences.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting uses specific points in your visual field to help access and process emotions, memories, and experiences that may feel stuck. It can help you work with what’s happening beneath the surface, even when it’s hard to put into words.

Trauma therapy isn't about erasing what happened. It's about helping the past feel like the past.

EMDR and Brainspotting can sound intimidating when you don't know what to expect. Moving your eyes? Staring at a specific spot? Processing trauma without just talking about it?

Let's talk it through.

Both approaches are grounded in trauma research, and EMDR in particular has a substantial evidence base for treating PTSD and trauma-related symptoms. Your therapist will walk you through what we're doing, why we're doing it, and what you can expect before you begin.

No surprises. No pressure. And plenty of room for questions.
